Can a mind start where nobody teaches?
Every AI you have used was made from us. Our text, our pictures, our answers.
Untaught keeps all of it out. No dataset. No reward. No goal. There are atoms, the energy between them, motion, and the light of one star. The rest has to happen by itself, or not at all.
If something here ever looks back, nobody put it there.
A ball of ice on a comet's road.
No air. Starlight lands straight on the ice. The world turns, so the ground has day and night.
Its road is the orbit of comet 1P/Halley. One lap takes 76 years. Most of it is spent far out, in the cold. A few months are spent close to the star.

Four laws. Nothing else.
Under the crust, the ground is cut into tiles. Each tile is one box of atoms. Each box is computed by one volunteer GPU, in a browser.
- iATOMSHydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen. The starting ice is plain comet ice: water, methanol, a trace of ammonia and carbon monoxide.
- iiENERGYHow atoms pull and push is learned from quantum mechanics by the ANI-1xnr network. Not tuned by hand.
- iiiMOTIONNewton's laws. One tiny step after another.
- ivLIGHTPhotons from the star. They arrive at random, only by day, at the rate the orbit allows.
606 atoms. 6 photons. 277 seconds.
Run G1c. One tile on one consumer NVIDIA Blackwell GPU, inside Chrome. Six photons of starlight fell on the ice. Molecules that were not there before came out.

In G1b, one photon made a methanol swap its oxygen with a neighbouring water (10.6 ps, stable to the end).
15.5 ps. Photon 3.
- 15.5 psA Lyman-α photon arrives. 10.2 eV.
- targetThe C–O bond of a methanol. Carbon 305, oxygen 306. 1.46 Å.
- +1 psC–O is 3.59 Å. Broken.
- +1 psA loose hydrogen, atom 391, closes in: 2.91 Å → 1.16 Å.
- resultCH₄. The run's one methane. Nobody asked for it.
Two recorded frames, 1 ps apart. Distances are read from the data. The motion between the two frames is interpolated for display.
Every rung counts.
From atoms up. The world may stop on any rung. A stop is a result too.

- …not written
What comes next is not planned. It is not ours to write.
Each first time is recorded with its witness and published.
The world falls toward its star.
Once per lap the ground goes from about 50 K to about 390 K. The light grows 3,767-fold. Frozen chemistry wakes up.
- −254 d150 K. 3.81 AU from the star.
- −116 d200 K.
- −49 d273 K. 1.15 AU.
- 0 d386 K. 0.575 AU. Perihelion.
G1c ended with a warming test: the closed box went from 30 K to 265 K in 10 ps. The 8 new molecules held.
Declared, not hidden: above ~150 K real ice would turn to vapour and leave. Here the box stays closed.
Lend a GPU. Be a witness.
- 01
Open the world in your browser. Nothing to install. Your island runs on your device, and your device tests its creatures for learning, one at a time.
- 02
Lend your GPU to the long runs. They are computed in pieces; paste a Solana address, keep the tab open; a piece counts when our server's own recompute returns the same state hash, and 80% of the coin's creator fees go to lenders by confirmed pieces.
- 03
Every result is public, the bad ones too. The campaign keeps which accounts computed each piece.

Short answers.
Is this a chatbot, or a trained model?
No. Nothing here reads text or images. There are atoms, the forces between them, and starlight.
Isn't ANI-1xnr itself trained?
It is fitted to quantum chemistry, not to people. It answers one question: how much energy does this set of atoms have? It has no goal and sees no human data. Against the quantum reference it is off by 1.3 µeV per atom.
What does my computer do?
Your browser's GPU computes one tile: the forces, the motion, the photons that land on it.
Why ice, and why Halley's orbit?
Comet ice holds the simple molecules chemistry starts from. A long, stretched orbit gives decades of deep cold and one short, hot passage. Both are real things in our solar system.
Why would anything happen at all?
Starlight breaks bonds. Broken pieces meet and join again. In G1c, after 6 photons, 8 new molecules were counted. The dark control will say how many of them needed the light. Whether it goes further is the experiment.
Will it ever feel anything?
We do not know. We will not claim it. It stays an open question.
It has not been taught. Not one word.
